Alabama Criminal Defense Lawyer:

Alabama Criminal Defense Frequently Asked Questions:

In Alabama what should I do if arrested?
The first thing you should always remember is to remain silent! This means don't answer questions from the police or anyone else outside of the basic information of your name and address. Say to the police "I want a lawyer" and contact my office as soon as possible.
We can be reached at (256)-253-3169.

Won't it look like I'm guilty if I refuse to answer questions from the police?
No! Your silence is NOT admissable in Alabama courts!  It is not the job of the police to decide your innocence or guilt, that is the court's job, so remain silent except to say "I want to speak to a lawyer". If the police are asking you questions they already suspect you are guilty and no amount of talking to them is going to change their mind.  Remember, they will say anything to get you to open up so they can build a case against you or get you to incriminate yourself. Don't trust them when they tell you they "just want to hear your side of the story", etc. Always remember that silence is always your right and the jury will never hear or know that you refused to answer questions posed by the police.

Do I need an Alabama Defense attorney even if I feel for sure that I'm innocent?
You should remember that even though the law provides that you are innocent until proven guilty, your local law enforcement, judges, and juries are comprised of human beings who can and often will make prejudgements about your guilt or innocence. It's in our nature as humans. You may be asked leading questions that you will be unprepared for or ones that you unknowingly incriminate yourself with. You may also be subject to improper procedures, faulty tests, or biased police reports. These are just a few prime reasons that you should always consider hiring an experienced Alabama criminal defense attorney to make sure your rights don't get trampled on. Don't put your freedom at risk! Call us today to discuss how we can help protect your rights.
